Abstract :
The author considers site shielding, which is a technique for the reduction of interference from a terrestrial station in a receiving satellite earth station. Site shielding is defined as the screening of an earth station by means of an obstacle located in the vicinity of the earth station. Site shielding is an attractive technique for the protection of small earth stations (VSATs). The author examines the CCIR site-shielding model and points out some shortcomings. A fundamental study of the site-shielding problem suggests some modifications of the CCIR model, which will be applied to a typical example
