Abstract :
Hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) simulation, which includes a real-time simulation computer and a flight control computer, creates a closed loop evaluating environment for the embedded flight computer system. Using both Linux operating system and cost-effective commercial off the shelf (COTS) hardware in general personal computer (PC), a PC-based realtime simulation framework is implemented. Because of the strict real-time requirement of HWIL simulation, real-time determinism must be provided by simulation computer. In order to achieve hard real-time capability, modification of Linux kernel is discussed. And more details about timing analysis and real-time performance measurement are presented. Restrictions for simulation algorithms in HWIL simulation are discussed. And some numerical integration algorithms suitable for real-time simulation are analysed. Realtime simulation of six degree of freedom (DOF) model is performed and time expense factors for simulation frame time are presented.
