  • Abstract
To create the `missing link´ between thick and thin film in terms of dry processing and resolution capabilities a new metallisation technology has been developed based on photo-tackification and toning technique. This additive process is named PCS for photoformed conductors on ceramic substrates. The PCS process consists of coating a thin, amorphous layer of a mixture of nitrophenyl dihydropyridine derivatives onto a ceramic substrate, exposing it through a mask to UV light and thereby transferring it into a tacky state. The exposed ceramic undergoes a toning process with appropriate metal toner materials thus forming the circuit pattern with photographic accuracy. Finally, conventional thick film firing leads to the finished metal circuit
