Abstract
Research into active filters for the medium voltage range is ongoing. This paper presents general practical issues related to active power filters, specifically for the medium voltage range. Harmonic mitigation in power system occupied a great deal of research which can be achieved by two approaches, one considering fully controlled converter, which increases complexity and cost and the other using filters. Passive filters are cheap, simple and easy for maintenance.
