Abstract :
A software development environment for TDX-10 switching system development has been created and successfully applied in order to increase productivity and enable the production of high quality software. The environment addresses system specification design, and implementation phases in compliance with CCITT recommendations. It provides two language-based paradigms, the specification description language (SDL) environment and CCITT high level language (CHILL) programming environment, which are integrated by transformation from SDL to CHILL and by means of uniformity of user interfaces. The author introduces the environment architecture and discusses characteristics and techniques to build and integrate tools of the environments, including: the graphical environment for specification and design; user interfaces; verification and validation; program generation from graphical specification; the compilation system and programming support environment for cross-development of large switching systems; a separate compilation scheme; and source-level debugging/cross-debugging of concurrent processes
