Abstract
Historically OEMs have generally been reluctant to consider the advantages of incorporation of ASIC devices into their products because of their perception that ASIC technology is risky, expensive and requires special skills and high volumes. Over the last two years all of those `excuses´ have been proven unfounded, but still that perception exists in the market place.
