Abstract :
Instant messaging (IM) has been a very popular application on Internet. The network of IM users was proved to be a kind of social network which reflects the cliques of users in real world. We argue that the evolution of the IM networks follows two main principles: preferential attachment in local world and acquaintance recommending. Based on these two principles, the statistical properties of the IM user network are analyzed.
