Abstract
A description is given of a blackboard architecture´s basic components, and the authors enumerate the basic assumptions underlying these components. Although the blackboard framework suggests natural exploitation of concurrency, so far very few attempts have been made to exploit this concurrency. A description is given of DISPROS, a distributed blackboard architecture which serves as a general framework for the implementation of concurrent problem solving systems in multicomputer environment. The computational model of the architecture provides fault tolerance. It is shown that it can withstand all types of faults except network partitioning. The authors summarize the distributed architecture´s strengths and weaknesses
