  • Abstract
    In this work we evaluated the spectroscopic properties of Nd3+-doped photo-thermo-refractive glass (Nd:PTR). Absorption coefficient, Stimulated emission cross section, fluorescence lifetime, and radiative quantum efficiency of Nd:PTR are discussed, which aims at the investigation of the laser performance. The measurement of absorption spectrum of 0.8at.% Nd:PTR was carried out using a spectrophotometer (U-3500, Hitachi) with utmost 0.2-nm resolution. Fluorescence spectrum of Nd:PTR was measured by linear-InGaAs-array detector (IGA512-lxl, JOBIN YVON). In this measurement the emitted photons were monochromized by a monochrometer (TRIAX-550, JOB IN YVON) with up to 0.15-nm resolution, and samples were pumped by 808-nm radiation of an optical parametric oscillation with pulses of 3-ns duration. Decay properties was measured by use of the same pump source.
