  • Abstract
The authors describe some of the recent achievements made in Philips UK in the area of microwave monolithic integrated circuits (MMICs). Philips UK in this case is represented by Philips Research Laboratories (PRL) in Redhill and by Philips Microwave in Hazel Grove. Both members of the company have been cooperating over the past three years in a programme of work on MMICs which not only moves forward the state of the art but also establishes a processing and manufacturing capability in the factory. Two distributed amplifier circuits are described. The first is an 18-26 GHz design and the second a 2-6 GHz design. They have applications in the fields of electronic warfare (EW) and radar. After a brief discussion of the circuit design concepts, the authors cover practical details of the passive and active component parts of the amplifiers, predicted performances, measured performances and yield
