Abstract :
Automatic pipe handling system (PHS) is mainly used for offshore drilling platforms (ODP), and is rarely for onshore rig. The three-coordinate automatic PHS has been designed for inland drilling. Its main structure consists of four major parts: the major tong and parallel moving track system, the minor tong and parallel moving track system, the vertical moving track system and the control system. The main control system designs include control principle project overall design, PCL-839 stepping motor limit switch/drive design, control system hardware design etc. The system can control tongs to finish griping, hoisting, landing, moving evenly between the drilling floor and the racking board. The automatic PHS can achieve tripping, making a connection, casing running and carrying out pipe handling automatically without manual operation. It is the ideal control system for inland rig PHS.
