Abstract
One current area of research at the British Aerospace Sowerby Research Centre is to develop a fast, low power device for optical array processing. The low thermal conductivity and high dn/dT of K15 nematic liquid crystal make it a suitable material for highly parallel bistable array processing in non-linear Fabry-Perot etalons. Initial experiments with such a cell have shown that array processing is indeed possible and have highlighted the problems involved in fabricating suitable devices and observation of bistability
