Abstract
Highlights some of the achievements of the propagation working group of COST 207. In addition, both the modulation and speech coding groups made significant contributions to the work of the GSM and these are recorded in the final report and the literature. The opportunities for the next generation of mobile systems are becoming apparent, and a new COST project, COST 231, has been proposed. Its main goal will be the research into mobile systems at higher frequencies, such as 2 GHz and mm-wavelengths, and to complement and augment the work of bodies such as RACE and IWP 8/13
