Abstract :
We consider the problem of signal transmission on frequency selective channels where the signal is compressed using a discrete cosine transform coder and transmitted Over an OFDM system. Our goal is to minimize the end-to-end signal distortion incurred. This is done by determining the optimum wordlengths required for encoding the compressed transform coefficients by joint consideration of the source compression scheme and channel characteristics.
