  • Abstract
    The author briefly discusses the improvements in power semiconductor switches resulting from new power thyristor designs, in particular gate turn-off thyristors. A special variant of the GTO, the zero turn-off thyristor optimised for high di/dt, high peak current requirements, are mentioned. The status of power semiconductor thyristors and future trends concerning pulsed power applications are discussed
