  • Abstract
Summary form only given. We have experimentally studied the spectral walk-off for a 10-Gbit/s signal by use of a conventional re-circulating fiber-loop setup for both bulk and MQW SOAs. We used 20-ps pulses of 4-10 mW peak power in different 10-Gbit/s bit pattern. The investigated propagation distance was /spl sim/1000 km where the amplifier spacing was /spl sim/35 km. Systems with and without in-line filters as well with different filters (0.2, 0.5, or 1 nm) in front of the receiver were studied.
