Abstract
In this paper, we investigate the performance of IEEE 802.1 la WLAN based on practical measurement of NEC´s world-leading FWA system. We implement the measurement in the LOS and NLOS environment separately, and in each measurement environment, we evaluate the performance in the scenario of one Station with one AP and two Stations with one AP respectively. In the scenario of one Station with one AP, the measurement is focused on the performance of TCP traffic throughput, TCP traffic response time, business applications, and Netmeeting video over the system and the results are described as the distribution of performance for distances. But for the scenario of two Stations with one AP, the result emphasizes on the performance of how two Stations compete for network resources as specified in the IEEE 802.11a standard.
