Abstract :
A report is presented on the use of repeatable operations in distributed computations such that both servers and clients can operate in an unreliable environment without underlying software. An examination is conducted to determine how to convert nonrepeatable operations into repeatable operations. Examples are given of file operations. Repeatable operations are efficient, easy to implement and suitable for simple LANs (local area networks) for microcomputers. The MODUS distributed programming environment for Modula-2 programs is used to explore the situation
