Abstract
The authors discuss the effects of testability on service costs and manufacturing test costs. They consider the provision of quick and accurate test and diagnostic solutions to deal with the increasing complexity of vehicle electrical and electronic systems, both in manufacturing and service. Network, protocol, and controller features are described, and the benefits of networked diagnostics in service are considered
