Abstract
Carrying out validation plans successfully is one of the key factors in developing a family of switching systems for a developing country. A discussion is presented of the various requirements that a good validation plan should meet. The work draws heavily on the authors´ experiences in this area. The authors provide practical considerations and tips on how to make a good validation plan and conduct the validation exercise more fruitfully. Wherever possible, the authors articulate some interesting conflicts that typically arise in forming and carrying out validation plans. Tools and techniques that are required for validation are also discussed
