Abstract :
An application of the segmentation method for the probabilistic simulation of multiple EL (energy limited) hydro units is presented. The authors utilize the commonly used algorithm with minor modifications. The IEEE Reliability Test System (IEEE-RTS) is considered. The applicability of the algorithm for any number of EL units, even competing for the same position in the merit order loading, is considered. The impact of a different number of EL units on the reliability, production cost, and on computational requirements is investigated
