Abstract :
The conditions of voltage collapse, feasibility of operation, and reactive power compensator requirement to provide voltage support are analytically established for a two-terminal back-to-back DC system. For the multi-terminal DC (MTDC) system, the voltage stability factor (VSF) for each converter and the sensitivity of AC bus voltage with respect to change in DC power are worked out. Simple formulas for each converter operation under different control modes are derived
