Abstract
In a power system any change in operating condition or switching of lines may result in perturbations (in the system matrix) which are quite large. Determination of new characteristic vectors and values are computationally unattractive. In view of this, new mathematical results are presented for analyzing perturbations which are not necessarily small. A quick estimate regarding the stability and dynamic behavior of multimachine systems can be readily obtained using this technique
