Abstract :
This paper describes a technique for characterising indoor microcellular channels in terms of time delay spread due to multipath propagation. The technique uses a spread spectrum code to probe the channel and offers a reduction in the complexity of equipment requirements over that of similar systems. Further, it avoids the need for high-bandwidth, high gain amplifiers commonly required for pulsed carrier approaches. In order to verify the technique, the system has been demonstrated on a 10 m indoor channel using a code rate of 200 Mbit/s. Results from this experiment are also reported
