Abstract
Papers by M. Fernandez and D.A. Tazartes (9th Digital avionics Syst. Conf., Oct. 1990) and by D.A. Tazartes and J. Mark (9th Digital Avionics Syst. Conf., Oct. 1990), which addressed the topics of requirements architecture and implementation, provided the basis for the design of a fault-tolerant launch vehicle guidance and control system. It was stated in the two papers that the recommended fault-tolerant architecture has significant advantages compared to existing and forecasted, single-string systems. The trade-offs reported in previous papers were refined during a preliminary design effort and the resulting design is presented
