Abstract
The various advantages offered by non-contacting NDT methods are briefly reviewed. Particular attention is given to the questions of improving the speed and convenience of inspection and of compatibility with automation. The NDT techniques in current use are considered where the limitations of current techniques are contrasted with the potential of the non-contacting methods under development
