The engineering degree programs offered by higher education in China are currently undergoing fast development towards internationalization. There have been a number of strategies and methods out of this development process, yet most of them are oriented to importing resources from overseas without taking the existing facilities and constraints into full account. This paper first introduces a graft model, which was proposed for introducing education resources from foreign nations into China, then proposes the steps and methods for applying this model to reforming the engineering degree programs towards internationalization, including grafting the curricula from oversea universities to our own, grafting their course syllabuses, grafting the methods for selecting course textbooks, grafting their pedagogical methods, etc. The process of applying the graft model to reforming the "Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation" degree program of Ningbo University is elaborated, through which the graft model is further explained. The model and the application case provide a valuable reference to the future similar reforming practices in China.
