Abstract
Demotivation is a relative new issue in Chinese EFL field. Based on the findings taken from 766 university EFL learners in a 40-item questionnaire survey, this essay investigated learners´ demotivating behaviors and correlated factors. Five demotivators were identified, indicating that external factors (Teachers´ Competence and Teaching Styles, Curriculum and Materials, and Inadequate Facilities), combined with internal factors (Lack of Intrinsic Interest, Learning Strategies Deficiency), resulted in subjects´ demotivation. External factors influenced more than internal counterparts. Teachers´ Competence and Teaching Styles as well as Learning Strategies Deficiency turned out to be the most influential.
