Abstract :
The inductance and driving force of the Linear switched reluctance motor (LSRM) are calculated using the 2D finite element method (2D-FEM) and the 3D finite element method (3D-FEM). The 2D-FEM is commonly used in the machine design. Therefore, it is important that the accuracy of the 2D-FEM be acceptable. Comparison between 2D-FEM and 3D-FEM results shows the unacceptable difference in the inductance.
