Abstract :
The Dutch Electricity Generating Board (NV SEP) is planning an extension of the Dutch 380 kV network. As a result of the limited number of right of way the new overhead high voltage lines will be combined with existing high voltage circuits on new towers. However this will increase the risk of intersystem faults. The authors describe how, in order to avoid excessive damage and unacceptable long outage times the present protection concept will be adapted to handle inter-system faults correctly
