Abstract

The authors describe an intelligent power transmission line terminal which can communicate with the substation control system (SCS), substation monitoring system (SMS) and relay testing and simulation system (RTS). PC-based workstations for the operator, relay engineer and service engineer are described here together with software programs for evaluation, simulation and expert analysis. Altogether, this coordinated concept of `intelligent devices´ will change the design, operation and maintenance of a substation to the benefit of electric utilities, their personnel and end users
