Abstract
Summary form only given. We have presented results on ultrafast intensity modulation by means of signal depletion due to Raman gain. The results presented illustrate the dynamics of this modulator as a tool to erase a header all-optically. The speed of the process is limited by the pulse width of the Stokes pulse; compressed pulses should be able to erase data exceeding 500 Gbit/s.
