  • Abstract
Third generation high capacity CDMA mobile systems will be able to provide multimedia services. A particular spreading method that supports a flexible multirate radio interface is reported. This is based on low rate orthogonal convolutional (LOROC) codes. A simulation model has been built to verify arguments. The outcomes of the simulations clearly show the capability of this approach to provide low crosscorrelation interference among multirate users. A nonregenerative multiple access interference cancellation method that does not require knowledge or tracking of other user signals and can be applied to both the BS and the MS is then presented. It can be combined perfectly with the LOROC codec and provide interference cancellation irrespectively of the various transmission rates
