Abstract
Component adaptation is widely considered to be one of the crucial problems in Component-Based Software Engineering. Based on the analysis of multiple component adaptation methods, we propose a new approach to component adaptation dealing with extra-functional mismatches, which is illustrated associating with a simplified example of Image Viewer/Browser. The results show that this new approach can not only solve most of functional mismatches successfully, but also do well in handling with extra-functional mismatches.
