Abstract :
This paper is an extension of support theory for preconditioning, a set of techniques for bounding extreme eigenvalues and condition numbers for matrix pencils. Our intended application of this generalized support theory is to enable proving condition number bounds for preconditioners of general linear algebra systems, including indefinite and non-symmetric matrices, not merely symmetric positive definite (spd) systems.
