Abstract :
Notice of Violation of IEEE Publication Principles

"Using Connectors to Integrate Software Components"
by Jiang Guo, Yuehong Liao, Jeff Gray, and Barrett Bryant
in Proceedings of 12th IEEE International Conference and Workshops on the Engineering of Computer-Based Systems (ECBS\´05)

After careful and considered review of the content and authorship of this paper by a duly constituted expert committee, this paper has been found to be in violation of IEEE\´s Publication Principles.

This paper duplicates portions of original text from the papers cited below. The original text was used without clear delineation from the authors\´ work, and without permission. The misconduct was committed specifically by Jiang Guo, and his actions were done without the knowledge or approval of his coauthors.

Due to the nature of this violation, reasonable effort should be made to remove all past references to this paper, and future references should be made to the following articles:

"Toward Automated Component Adaptation" by John Penix and Perry Alexander
in Proceedings of the Ninth International Conference on Software Engineering and Knowledge Engineering (SEKE-97), pp 535.542.

"REBOUND: A Framework for Automated Component Adaptation"
by John Penix
in Proceedings of the 9th Annual Workshop on Software Reuse (WISR-99), 1999.Effective measures to promote software reuse have become increasingly more important as the cost and complexity of software development continues to escalate. The key to integration is determining the relationship between potentially reusable components and how they can be properly adapted. It is not always the case that existing components completely satisfy a given problem. The paper addresses the integration of software components by using connectors and describes an approach to integrating components based on type, interface, and behavior adaptation.
