Abstract :
Characterizes the performance of two important classes of radiometers-the wideband radiometer and the channelized radiometer (also known as a filter bank combiner)-using Monte Carlo simulation techniques. Both classes of radiometers are evaluated against direct sequence (DS) and frequency hopped (FH) spread spectrum signals. Simulations for the wideband radiometer are performed with and without perfect message synchronization by varying the message arrival time uncertainty. The channelized radiometer is modeled with a wideband radiometer in each channel and an O Red binary moving window detector (OR/BMWD) in its alarm circuitry. A simulation is run against a frequency hopping transmission to measure the effect of the BMWD integration threshold on input S/N0. Initially the wideband radiometer is evaluated against a DS signal, and the channelized radiometer is evaluated against a FH waveform. Finally both radiometers are compared against using the Block Oriented System Simulator. System simulation block diagrams and results of the simulations are presented
