Abstract
The state-of-the-art in 600 V adjustable frequency drive technology is reviewed for the end user from the perspective of the equipment designer. Certain specific qualities of the drives are related to their effect on performance, cost, reliability, and the environment. Particular attention is given to the power circuitry and power switches, the invertor control function, digital drive logic, the human interface, diagnostics, serial communications, envelope control, provisions for regeneration, line current effects, and application of motors.<>
