Abstract :
This paper explores the current Internet´s potential to provide accountability. We present a new IPv6 address management and certification hierarchy to achieve host-oriented accountability of the Internet, with the current addressing system remaining unchanged. With the design of HIA (Host-Identifier-Embedded IPv6 Address), we present the framework for host identity authentication, packet source validation and the host reputation system construction. This paper also discusses the feasibility and deployment issues about our design.
