Abstract :
In this paper, the calculation of the Sommerfeld integral with Chebyshev decomposition is first discussed. After evaluation of the current distribution on the electromagnetic coupled microstrip antennas and the mutual coupling between dipoles among the microstrip array, the radiation characteristics of a five-element array is determined. The efficiency of the present calculation has been greatly improved because of the use of Chebyshev decomposition techniques. Finally, the effect of the tail fin of an airplane on the radiation characteristics of an airborne five-element microstrip array is calculated with the Uniform Theory of Geometrical Diffraction (UTD)
