Abstract
The authors describe preliminary results from an experiment using the ITALSAT satellite, which was launched in January 1991. The propagation payload on this satellite has beacons at 20, 39.5 and 49.5 GHz. The Radio Communications Research Unit at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory has embarked on the development of a low cost single-channel receiver to measure propagation effects at 49.5 GHz. Results are presented for a prototype version of the receiver
