Abstract :
The problem of microcomputer-based digital control of a naturally commutated cycloconverter (NCC) operating with frequency-wild input voltage waveform is discussed. An improved novel method for microprocessor-based direct digital control of cycloconverters is proposed. This method provides a very simple and yet quite accurate control for operation of circulating-current NCC with frequency-wild input voltage. The output voltage will stabilize in less than 1/3 of the input voltage period, even for abrupt changes in the input frequency. The variation of the magnitude of the input voltage can be easily corrected by simple voltage feedback. A computer simulation was carried out for preliminary testing of the proposed method.<>
