Abstract
The design of a ground fault relay with a microcontroller is presented. The application of the Walsh function for fast computation of the RMS value of ground fault current is shown. The use of the microcontroller makes the architecture of the relay simpler and cost effective. Design considerations in view of protection from external noise are presented.<>
