A modern distribution management system

The authors present an open, modular, expandable network automation system which meets the requirements for management of distribution networks-a distribution management system (DMS). The distributed system architecture based on servers and workstations is explained, and the standards used (e.g. operating system, communication protocols, graphical user interface) are noted. The requirements which must be met by the SCADA functions for control and monitoring of a distribution network and typical distribution management functions are described
