Abstract
An ultrasonic array transducer that enables the beam pattern to be randomly directed over a large angular range without alteration of the beam shape is described. The design of such a transducer requires the careful choice of a number of dimensional and frequency-related parameters. A numerical model and simulation results obtained using this model are presented. Design-parameter relationships are established and the simulated performance is demonstrated
