Abstract
In Europe, third generation systems are likely to be based on GSM. A tempting idea is to attain the air interface of a next generation mobile radio system by supplying the TDMA based GSM with an additional CDMA component. This is the basic idea of the JD-CDMA mobile radio concept. In comparison with other mobile radio systems or system concepts employing CDMA, the JD-CDMA concept is a hybrid CDMA concept. JD and interference cancellation (IC) data detection algorithms are investigated for the JD-CDMA mobile radio concept. For the uplink of the system, the deployment of dual receiver antenna diversity is considered. The simulation results show that the JD algorithms employing decision feedback perform better than the IC algorithms
