Abstract
A slot constant calculation method of semi-enclosed slots in unsaturation ranges of cast rotor cores is described. It is shown that when dividing a shape segment, the contribution of the segment to the slot constant before a division is kept constant after the division about any shape segment. It is made clear that the upper segment has the larger contribution in design calculation, and the contribution depends on the combined weighing factor. This relationship is extended to the relationship between the contribution and the position of a shape segment in a slot. An appropriate calculation method in the lowest trapezoid segment is proposed. In this method, only the self slot constant is approximated. The relationship between positions of segments and the contribution is verified by testing machines of two segment slots and four segment slots.<>
