Abstract
The increased use of ZH cables has forced the evolution of suitable compounds and related extrusion techniques. There are plenty of examples of industrial cable installations where the use of ZH materials is now required to prevent damage to personnel or destruction of equipments. Metro (underground trains), public premises, oil platforms, are just a few cases where ZH cable are increasingly required. With the increment of energy requirements in hospitals, big closed public halls or block offices more high voltage cable are part of premises where requirements of ZH cables apply. It is possible to produce HV distribution cables (up to 18/30 kV) complying with the requirement of ZH cables and similar in design and handling to the conventional distribution cables. In order to evaluate their performance, one high voltage ZH cable for distribution purpose has been made and tested. The author presents the cable design and test results
