Abstract :
Using the particle-in-cell (PIC) simulation code MAGIC, a vacuum microelectronics triode with a wedge emitter has been simulated. The effects of the gate voltage, the anode voltage and the wedge radius on emitted current has been investigated. Simulation results are presented for a single vertical wedge field-emission triode with the anode biased at 500 V and spaced 4 μm from the cathode. Simulation results indicated that the gate turn-on voltage is about 250 V and critical frequency fT≈22.8 GHz. The dynamic characteristics of a high-performance triode have been simulated too
