The ENEL distribution automation system

The authors describe the most important features of a new distribution automation system, conceived by ENEL in order to provide an overall solution to the two most important aspects concerning the automation of on-line activities related to electricity distribution: remote control of distribution power networks; and customer services automation and control. The system allows the remote control of any component of the ENEL distribution network, starting from the HV/MV substations to metering apparatus installed at LV customer premises and also opens the door towards the development of applications concerning home and building automation systems
